The gang's all here! |
Once a week I play hooky from work for some fun on the mountain. Meeting up with my good friends Glen, Linda and Judy, we scout the trails of our local ski area in search of the best snow.
Chairlift selfie |
And even if the snow is less-than-stellar (ahem.....don't get me started about this year's lousy snowpack) we still manage to have terrific fun.
On top of the world! |
Whether it's taking in the incredible panoramic views from the top of the Cascade Lift...
Taking in the views from on high |
Or basking in the bright winter sun....
Heading down the mountain |
Or ripping perfect turns down the mountain.
Checking out Mt Hood on the ride up |
Or checking out the cool clouds hovering over Hood's summit.
Glen and Judy take a breather |
Thursdays are my day to escape from the confines of my stuffy office, and enjoy some exercise in the fresh air and sunshine.
Can't have too much sunshine |
To laugh with my friends.
Mt. Hood is wearing an unusual cloud "hat" |
And admire the incredible scenery from high on Mt. Hood's slopes (and try not to obsess about the lack of snow....)
So that's my typical ski bus Thursday. If you're not tired of them yet, here's another GoPro video for your viewing pleasure. This particular one has great footage of Mt. Hood with an amazing cloud formation on top. Hope you enjoy!

Beautiful. I miss snow days so much! Living in Rome I don't get to see the snow very often - but when I do get up north it's like Ive come home!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures of your fun in the sun and the wee bit of snow you found.
ReplyDeleteYour happy attitude is so refreshing.. and very contagious!
Another wonderful post, my friend.
Wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteWarm regards:)
I rather like the crazy wide angle lens on the Go Pro. Just so you can show off next time you should know that such clouds sitting atop mountains are called "orographic clouds" and are caused by the air being lifted and cooling as the wind blows over the peak. Ideally they are lens-shaped and can then be called "lenticular clouds" as well.
ReplyDeleteLovely with sun and snow.
ReplyDeleteLinda you always make everything look like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteThe scenery up there is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIncredible scenery! I'm still seeking snow shots over anything spring related! I haven't had my fill yet. Maybe that is because our winter as been similar to yours, not a whole lot of snow fall.
ReplyDeleteHello Linda, I love the views of Mt Hood with the cloud hat.. Very pretty. So glad you had a great day skiing. I love the video.. You are becoming a pro with your GoPro camera.. Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Great video, too.
ReplyDeleteThursdays are my hiking days and your skiing days. I enjoy whatever the weather brings, but I sure do prefer full sun like you show here! And yes, it's good to get out and enjoy the outdoors, isn't it? :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look like you are having so much fun! Enjoy the snow.
ReplyDeleteFun and beautiful, Linda, and I love the colour of your jacket! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful day in the mountains! When I think of our dinky little ski hills in the east, that LONG gentle run looks awesome! But how do you hold the go pro so steady? Neat lenticular cloud over Mt. Hood too.
ReplyDeleteSun, fun, fresh air, incredible views, exercise and laughter... You are living the good life on ski bus Thursdays!
ReplyDeleteBefore I scrolled down to see the text, my mind said the exact same words, "On top of the world!"
You are so lucky to have found a "breathing place". They say that the best way to recharge is by nature. That place you skii at has an amazing view, with less or more snow, it does still look amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou've got some very bright sunshine and good snow up on top.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have more than enough snow to me! :) No need for me to send you any from Connecticut. I might even like winter if the sun was always so bright here. Great pics!
ReplyDeleteI've been playing hooky from work once a week to snowboard too!
ReplyDeleteIt always looks like such a good time. I think winter is over for us already.
ReplyDeleteA great way to escape office life!
ReplyDeleteOn top of the world with old friends, and on a week day! Doesn't get much better than that. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteShowed this to Bob, Linda - we can't believe your snowpack. I wonder what that will mean for vegetation this summer? We've had several "spring-like" days and more to come, so there is definitely melt and freeze, but still lots of snow left.
ReplyDeleteYour face always looks so happy when you are playing on the snow-covered hills!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun...I'm wondering what affect the lack of snow will have on our summer and all the rivers and streams that depend on the melt run off...
ReplyDeleteYou sure have a great view from up there! Maybe I should take up skiing one of these years. Looks like you have plenty of fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy group !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chair lift views! So glad you got one more day in to ski:)
ReplyDeleteYour Thursdays are much better than mine, as I'm always at the office. Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Mt Hood and another fab day on skies with friends. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteLooks a great mountain and good skiing. Our runs only go up to 4000 feet and sunny days like that one are a rare occurrence. Had a look at Mt Hood's details on the internet. Beautiful peak to have nearby.
